MADURAI: A shocking incident of school students made to stand in hot Sun for two hours as ‘punishment’ by class teachers has come to light at Kendriya Vidyalaya (KV) school in Narimedu in Madurai.

It happened yesterday- on April 15th 2024- at the Central government’s Kendriya Vidyalaya in Narimedu in Madurai city where about 30 children of Class X were asked to stand under the scorching Sun in the afternoon at around 1 pm for two periods, as a punishment because they did not paste the ninth standard mark-sheet in the dairy.

Sources told ‘Lotus Times’ media today that the 10th standard students had faced this inhuman punishment by school authorities and several parents are angry and disturbed with the manner in which the school children were treated at Kendriya Vidyalaya in Narimedu in Madurai yesterday afternoon.

A few children had suffered Sun stroke and dehydration last night and were taken to hospital for treatment while girls faced health issues.

“These children had just completed their ninth standard and are now in 10th class. The school staff had asked them to paste their ninth mark-sheets in the main dairy. Some students went to school yesterday without pasting and hence this cruel punishment in the afternoon for two periods. That too they were asked to stand by keeping school bag on their head. There was no misbehaving at all for the school staff to give them such a severe punishment. Students got tired and some had swooned immediately after going home,” sources added.
