
MADURAI: Because of the strict lockdown being implemented in Tamil Nadu now to prevent the spread of Corona cases, the Madurai Corporation has started deploying mobile vegetable selling vehicles in Madurai city today- on 24th May 2021. The Corporation is taking the help of horticulture / agriculture departments, district administration, voluntary organizations and others to supply vegetables and fruits at the residents’ doorsteps across 100 wards in Madurai city.

Madurai Corporation Commissioner Mr.S.Visakan had today sent the mobile vegetable vending vehicles to various places in Madurai from Corporation headquarters main building ‘Anna Maaligai’ here today morning, an official press release informed. Each vegetable is priced at Rs.100 and it will have ten items. The Madurai Corporation is procuring vegetables from Paravai wholesale market in Madurai and will supply them during the period of one week total strict lockdown.
Totally 125 mobile vegetable selling vehicles are being deployed in Madurai city to cover all the 100 wards. Tomato, potato, brinjal, coconut, onions, ladies finger, etc are among the 10 varieties in each bag that is being sold at Rs.100. The support of voluntary teams including ‘Vaa Nanbaa’, lawyers team, Santhoshkumar team and others is being taken by the Madurai Corporation to supply vegetables / fruits vehicles- from 7 am to 12 noon, during the one week lockdown time., the press release received on 24th May 2021 has informed.
