MADURAI: Nagapattinam MLA and general secretary of Manithaneya Jananayaga Katchi (MJK) Mr.M.Thamimum Ansari has posed a direct question to Prime Minister Mr.Narendra Modi’s government at the Centre on why his government is not fast evacuating thousands of stranded Indians back home during the current Corona pandemic when it was done by former Prime Ministers and Foreign Ministers during the Gulf War.
“We have been pleading with the Central government to take steps for return of stranded people belonging to Tamil Nadu, in various countries. Our party MJK has done a three-day campaign across Tamil Nadu (5th to 7th June) through social media and in public by following all Corona prevention rules such as social distancing. When thousands of Indians were brought back from Gulf countries, airlifted during the Gulf war in late 80s by then Prime Minister, why is it not possible for Mr.Narendra Modi now to help our people who got stranded in many countries because of Corona pandemic restrictions,” Mr.Thamimum Ansari had questioned today- on 7th June 2020.
The Nagapattinam MLA had cited the example of how leaders like former PM Mr.Chandrasekhar and I.K.Gujral had taken a great step to rescue Indians during the Gulf war days. A demonstration was organized at Thirupoondi in Nagapattinam district on 7th June to highlight the plight of those people from Tamil Nadu who are crying for the help of Indian government to come back to their places in India.
