Rajinikanth’s Madurai team reaches out to 8,300 homes

MADURAI: The long Corona lockdown since the month of March has opened up several ways to help the affected families. And, what people particularly looked for help is someone to provide basic food essentials and food packets.

Actor Superstar Rajinikanth’s team in Madurai has been active since the month of April in supplying rice and groceries to needy deserving people at various places in Madurai through Rajini Makkal Mandram (RMM)’s Madurai Urban District unit.

On 10th May 2020, the RMM functionaries had distributed rice and grocery items to 80 persons in Sellur here (near Saraswathi Theatre). 
“In the last 15 days, we have provided food and essential items to 8,300 people in Madurai. Today, we supplied five kilos of rice and a kit containing 13 varieties of groceries and vegetables,” Mr.P.Alagarsamy, Madurai Urban District Assistant Secretary, Rajini Makkal Mandram, said today.

For physically challenged people, the RMM functionaries in Madurai had directly identified the needy, went to their homes and distributed besides giving some financial help, he says. 

Mr.Kumaravel, Retd ADSP, and executive committee member Mr.M.M.Muthupandi are among those actively involved in this work done through RMM. A special team has been carrying out the distribution and logistics work. 

They include district joint secretary Mr.O.Pandian, district assistant secretary Mr.V.K.R.Sekar and urban district convener  Mr.S.M.Rafeeq. The Madurai urban district team is being helped by several other functionaries also – Suresh, M.P.Panneer, S.S.Karthik, Harish and Muthupandi.
