CHENNAI: Even as Modi-Shah-Nadda trio is relentlessly working to strengthen the party in States where same gaps are there, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Tamil Nadu appears to be going on a self destruction mode due to internal squabbles, personal ambitions, sidelining of seniors, publicity hungry leaders and ‘social distancing’ from reality.

Several party seniors have contacted ‘Lotus Times’ in the last one month and expressed their view that the new BJP State president Mr.L.Murugan will have a tough time in keeping the house in order because, they say, there is disillusion, disappointment and disenchantment at all levels from districts to State party headquarters in Chennai.

“The manner in which new party districts were formed and the nomination-selection-appointment of BJP district presidents in the last three months is an example that things are going in a wrong direction. Selection of district presidents in atleast seven districts in Tamil Nadu was not done properly and the party functionaries are expressing their shock,” a senior leader based in Chennai told ‘Lotus Times’ news website on 22nd April 2020.

Information gathered from various quarters is clearly pointing fingers at Tamil Nadu BJP State Organisation General Secretary Mr.Kesava Vinayagam and his group for their ‘person first party next’ approach.
Complaints were already sent to BJP National President Mr.J.P.Nadda and other leaders in New Delhi recently.

DELIMITATION COMMITTEE:

Another party senior on condition of anonymity has said that the recommendations of party’s Delimitation Committee headed by Mr.Suba.Nagarajan were not taken into consideration and party districts were formed according to whims and fancies to please some party leaders.
“The Delimitation Committee had recommended that Kanyakumari should get a new party district by splitting in to two. That did not happen. The same committee had mooted that Virudhunagar district should not be bifurcated into two party districts. But this Virudhunagar district was divided and a new party district was carved out there,” a party leader in Madurai has lamented.

Tamil Nadu BJP has now about 50 party districts and there are violations in appointment of districts presidents in seven districts including Virudhunagar and Madurai because district organizing general secretaries were made district presidents of the part. “This is a violation of our party bylaw and party constitution. Will our national general secretary Mr.B.L.Santhosh take action and correct the wrong things presided by Mr.Kesava Vinayagam,?”, a sidelined leader asked.

The Delimitation Committee had suggested that in all districts where are Corporations, there can be new party districts. ‘But that did not happen with Kanyakumari district where we have Nagercoil. Why,” leaders are questioning.

Giving more inside information about the Tamil Nadu BJP, a leader commented that ‘this is no longer the days of LG, HR etc. The party with a difference became a party of few individuals in Tamil Nadu. Some publicity mongers, few spokespersons and a group sitting in ‘Kamalalayam’ are misleading the leadership and damaging the party. There is going to be a silent revolt soon if there is no course correction in the State BJP.”

Will the BJP national leadership focus on its Tamil Nadu unit after Corona crisis remains to be seen. (PART ONE).
