90 persons from Madurai held up in Kasi, want help (Video)

MADURAI: The plight and hardship being faced by 90 persons from Madurai who got held up in Kasi has come to light yesterday. They got stranded in the famous temple town of Varanasi because of complete lockdown enforced due to Coronavirus and Section 144 imposed in Tamil Nadu to prevent the spread of virus.

These 90 devotees from Madurai went to Kasi temple and had darshan there on 15th March. They belong to Nilayur, Kaithari Nagar and Avaniapuram localities here. Since lockdown was announced from March 24th at midnight, they got held up in Kasi.

Their plight was informed to Tiruparankundram MLA Dr.Saravanan who immediately took steps to contact them and assured them of arrangements for their return to Madurai after the lockdown ad Section 144 get lifted.

The MLA had provided financial help by giving Rs.30,000 for the Madurai devotees for their return from Kasi. Family members and relatives are anxious about the difficulty faced by their dear ones in Varanasi right now due to the current Corona situation.

Mr.Kuppusamy and Nachiar spoke about the urgent help needed to bring their family members back from Kasi to their homes in Madurai.
