MADURAI: A self-immolation bid demanding free land patta by a person in Madurai District Collectorate has created tense moments today.
Lorry driver Manikandan belongs to Karisakkalpatti near Tirumangalam in Madurai district and he has been pleading with district authorities through his representations requesting for a free land patta for past six years, according to information received from the spot today- 16th March 2020.
Disgusted over lack of response, Manikanadan came to the collectorate today to give a representation. Suddenly he doused diesel and attempted immolation. Alert public and police immediately stopped him and took him away.
