
MADURAI: Cooperation Minister Mr.Sellur K.Raju today participated in the commencement of important basic needs of people residing in Wards 21 and 22 in Madurai city thanks to the steps taken by Madurai Corporation authorities to address the grievances for purified drinking water and drainage system.
The Minister, along with Corporation CommissIoner Mr.S.Visakan and officials, took part in the ‘bhoomi puja’ ceremony held in Pethaniyapuram here where a project is being taken up to solve the underground drainage-sewerage systems at a cost of Rs.32 lakhs.
Wards 21 and 22 in Madurai will be getting complete focus and a new RO plant for the safe drinking water requirements of residents there. With today’s initiatives, the areas that will benefit include Pallavan Nagar, Virattipathu, VOV Nagar, Indira Nagar, EB Colony, Bypass Road etc. The new RO plant will have a capacity of purifying 1,000 litres of water per hour.

All the projects initiated today will be completed in 45 days and the special attention is for underground drainage and drinking water, according to a corporation press release here today.
Madurai Corporation Chief Engineer Mr.Arasu and other officials including Mr.Sekar besides PRO Mr.Chitravel were among those present.
