MADURAI: Lok Sabha MP from Madurai Mr.S.Venkatesan has said that the latest election results of rural local bodies have clearly indicated the people’s anger against the ruling party in Tamil Nadu and against the Central government for its forcible Citizenship Amendment Act.
The DMK alliance got good results than the AIADMK alliance in rural civic body polls and counting of votes took place yesterday.
“Money power and ruling party power could not influence the voters of Tamil Nadu. The results of rural local bodies taught a lesson to the State and Central governments. Our demand is that the Centre should not proceed with CAA because that Act is against the spirit of our Constitution. Religion has no place for citizenship. That is why there are protests all over India everyday,” Communist MP Mr.Venkatesan, Member of Parliament, Madurai Lok Sabha constituency, (CPM), told reporters at Madurai airport here today.
