MADURAI: With the second phase of rural local body elections over yesterday, Madurai District Collector Dr.T.G.Vinay inspected the vote counting centre in Sitalakshmi Girls Higher Secondary School at Tirunagar here on 31st December 2019.
The rural local body polls in Tiruparankundram panchayat union were held yesterday and ballot boxes shifted to the counting centre in Tirunagar. District Collector Dr.Vinay along with election observer Mr.Subbaiyan went to the counting centre and inspected the security arrangements made for the vote counting to be held on 2nd January 2020.
According to Election Commission officials, 75.81 voting percentage was registered in the second phase of election held in Tiruparankundram Panchayat Union. 
Of the total 1,39,017 voters, the number of votes polled was 1,05,389 and the least number of votes cast in the second phase was in Tirupparankundram panchayat union.
