MADURAI: “I am Narendra, you are Devendra…we are all one and coming from same background…Do not worry because I am with you.”
These were the from the bottom of the heart words of Prime Minister Mr.Narendra Modi when a large number of people from the neglected Devendra Kula Vellalar community from Tamil Nadu met him in New Delhi and sought his solidarity for their social and economic uplift.
The same words thronged the air in Madurai on July 6 th 2017 when more than 800 important representatives and from that community voluntarily joined the BJP at a historic meeting the chanting of Modi, Bharath Matha Ki Jai and the BJP reverberated from Madurai’s Thirupparankundram area, the famous abode of Lord Muruga.
Union Minister of State for Highways and Shipping Mr.Pon.Radhakrishnan, BJP national secretary Mr.P.Muralidhar Rao (party’s Tamil Nadu in-charge), Shri.Kesava Vinayagam, BJP State Organising General Secretary and BJP State Secretary Prof.Dr.R.Srinivasan were among those who received the ‘Devendras’ into the party fold from a huge dais with backdrop words “Devendrars for BJP Tamil Nadu.”
“Since our Independence, this community has not been able to get empowered. You have a very large population, numbers, you are hardworking…but the DMK and AIADMK have not listened yo your plea. What is the difficulty in giving your community your name when the names of cities like Madras, Bombay and Calcutta were restored to original names of Chennai, Mumbai and Kolkata respectively,” Mr.Muralidhar Rao said.
BJP IS FOR YOUR IDENTITY :
The BJP national general secretary assured the Devendra Kula Velalar community people in Tamil Nadu that the “BJP is the only political party interested in your identity and it was party president Mr.Amit Shah who took special care for your welfare and took up your issue with PM Mr.Modi.”
Mr.Muralidhar Rao said that the BJP will restore the name of Devendra Kula Velalar after coming to power here and it is the chance for over one crore people of Devendra Kula Velalar to usher in a political change at the time of elections.
“Our party BJP will give you a corruption-free government, your community must be united in your cause, have a leader to voice views and support only BJP because we respect Tamil identity, Tamil culture, Tamil language and jallikattu,” he added.
BJP IS THE ONLY ANSWER :
The party’s national leader made it clear that the BJP will not look at Devendrar issue from any political angle and there is also no link between beef ban and agriculture.
“We are for protecting cow and cow milk but at the same time we are for Devendrars too. It is only surprising that DMK’s Mr.M.K.Stalin is fighting with the BJP when for decades the Dravidian parties in Tamil Nadu ignored you because you are from poor economic strata,” Mr.Muralidhar Rao concluded saying that the Devendrars are most deserved to get their name and identity in the government’s social policy.
Mr.M.Thangaraj, founder-president of Devendra Nala Arakattalai, Mr.T.Jayachandran and Mr.Vetrivel were among those who coordinated the event when people from 23 assembly constituencies in Tamil Nadu belonging to Devendra Kula Vellalar community joined the BJP with a bang.
