No breakdown in lockdown: MKU’s ‘Learn English Today’

MADURAI: Students skill development program was organized by the Madurai Kamaraj University on “Learn English Today for a Better Tomorrow” from 5th August to 7th August 2020.

According to a press release received here today, more than 6,000 students from various colleges and universities had participated in this program the theme of which was ‘No Breakdown in Lockdown’- to highlight the message that Corona virus had locked students at homes with schools and colleges and universities closed from March third week.
The importance of English language, the need to speak English fluently etc were highlighted during this program through virtual mode using technology tools. The job potential was stressed as India is the second largest English speaking country.

The program was hosted from 5th to 7th August 2020 by the Department of Management studies, Directorate of Distance Education, Madurai Kamaraj University. MKU Vice Chancellor Prof.Dr.M.Krishnan inaugurated the program and he mentioned that during the COVID-19 pandemic
situation also the DDE of MKU has been organizing so many webinar training programmes to connect with academicians and students for academic enhancement and continual learning’. Also, he was more concerned about the rural students in nurturing their English language skill for their growth and better life in future.’

Dr.J.Vijayadurai, Director, Directorate of Distance Education, welcomed the gathering. This student’s skill development program was organized by Prof. S.Ilayaraja, organizing secretary and assistant professor, Department of Management Studies, Directorate of Distance Education, Madurai Kamaraj University, the press release added.

Dr.R.Menaka, HOD i/c, MBA Department, DDE, MKU had co-coordinated this programme and Mr.M.Baskar, Web Designer, MKU extended the technical support, the MKU press release received on 8th August 2020 said.
