MADURAI: In Madurai Kamaraj University (MKU) campus in Madurai, many teaching and non-teaching staff belonging to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes are feeling ignored, being neglected and letdown by the university authorities for the past several years.

Sources told ‘Lotus Times’ news website today- on 20th July 2020- that the SCs want a due representation in atleast a couple of key administrative posts in MKU and are waiting for Vice-Chancellor Prof.M.Krishnan to take a positive stand towards them in the Registrar post that is now going to be filled up.

“One particular community is trying to dominate in this university. Already 32 candidates have applied for MKU Registrar post, but the VC has to take a decision to get a person from SC to Registrar post. Why not a person from Scheduled Caste (SC). It will be social justice. Right now, one community is dominating and we will take up the issue with concerned authorities because there should be justice for SCs and STs too. The Registrar selection scrutiny committee or selection committee should take care of SCs too into consideration. The VC alone should not take decision. SCs and STs are being denied justice in Madurai Kamaraj University when it comes to important posts on full time basis,” a few teaching faculty members of MKU has lamented on 17th and 18th of July 2020, on condition of anonymity.
