MADURAI: Family members of a 75-year-old woman who died today morning had to wait for more than three hours at Avaniapuram cremation ground in Madurai city for want of men and materials to cremate the body in this Madurai Corporation cremation place.
Keeping the dead body before them, the family waited there listening to the grievances of cremation ground workers who did not do the formalities for her cremation. Their complaint was that the Madurai Corporation is not paying them wages or salary properly. The materials for cremation is not being provided by corporation authorities, the workers complained.
The woman who died today was 75-year-old Raamakka- of Markandeyakoil Street in Avaniapuram here.
