Madurai creates record in ‘Mehandi’ marathon

MADURAI: The colourful ‘mehandi’ now has a record from Madurai. Organized as a marathon type event, it entered record books from this temple city through a massive mehendi and henna art festival with an important theme- WOMEN’S SAFETY.

Jaya Meenakshi Training Institute of Madurai, which is a well equipped fashion and beauty school here, had conducted ‘Mehandi Fest 2020’ at Gandhi Museum in the city on January 11th 2020 in which mehandi-henna was applied to 2,691 hands of 1,794 participants. The Global Records and Research Foundation (GRRF) had adjudicated and announced the breaking of record by presenting a record certificate cum trophy to this Madurai-based institute situated opposite District Police Office – Alagarkoil Road, Surveyor Colony, in Madurai.

FOR STUDENTS AND HOMEMAKERS:

Talking to reporters about the record created by the institute on 29th January 2020, its proprietor Mrs.Pandeeswari Muthukrishnan has said that their fashion and beauty school has been offering diploma certificate courses since its inception in 2014.

“Women harassment, violence against women and such things should stop. So, we took up women’s safety as our theme. We are happy that our institute had created global, Asia Pacific and national records with this Mehendi fest,” she said today.

According to a press release, the previous record of Mehndi Art Marathon wherein henna was applied was on 1,624 hands of 1,054 people at Pune on 14th October 2018.    Mrs.Pandeeswari Muthukrishnan informed that the institute is offering various courses to students and homemakers in separate batches. Starting from six month duration course, it is focusing on fashion design, beautician, textile exposure, cosmetology and related subjects. 

Mr.N.Muthukrishnan, Ms.Lavanya Hari and Ms.G.S.Ramani Balan of Jaya Meenakshi Training Institute- fashion and beauty school- were present at the press meet today.
