MADURAI: Grace Kennett Foundation Hospital in Madurai has started Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Unit on July 25th 2026 to add a new dimension in healing diabetic wounds, burns, cancer care etc.
This first ‘HyBot’ was inaugurated in the hospital premises yesterday by Dr.B.Sridhar, President, Indian Medical Association-Tamil Nadu and it comes in continuation of its pioneering skin bank and human milk bank which show GKF’s legacy in healthcare from Madurai, according to a press release from the hospital here yesterday.
“The new Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Unit’ of our Grace Kennett Foundation Hospital offers advanced treatment for diabetic wounds, burns, cancer care and more. HBOT is continuing our hospital’s legacy of pioneering healthcare initiatives in Madurai including the city’s first Skin Bank and Human Milk Bank,” the press release added.
Dr.V.R.Ravi, orthopaedic surgeon and regenerative medicine specialist, spoke on the emerging trends in tissue engineering for skin regeneration while Dr.Pradeoth K.M. who is professor and Head of Plastic Surgery and Burns at Jubilee Mission Medical College at Thrisuur spoke in ‘HBOT today’ at the inaugural function.
Dr.Capt.Augustus Samuel Dodd, CEO of Grace Kennett Foundation, had proposed a vote of thanks at the inaugural function of HBOT unit here yesterday.
