
MADURAI: Ravi Institute of Special Education (RISE) had conducted a special inclusive programme for intellectually disabled children in Madurai on June 22nd 2026 with students of Devasakayam Matric Higher Secondary School at Pasumalai in the city to celebrate ‘International Day of Yoga’.
“This event had created a vibrant platform to promote inclusion, equality, health and well-being through yoga practice. Students with intellectual disabilities and mainstream students had participated in yoga exercises with enthusiasm,” Mr.R.Ravikumar, managing director, RISE, has said in a press release here yesterday.
Senior advocate Mr.K.Samidurai who is the secretary of Indian Lawyers Association had set the tone by speaking on the importance of yoga in daily life.
“Yoga connects the mind and body, relieves stress and tension, and promotes overall fitness and wellness. It will be particularly helpful for persons with intellectual disabilities, it improves concentration, confidence, physical fitness and overall performance,” Mr.K.Samidurai has said while lauding the efforts of RISE and Devasakayam Matric Higher Secondary School in holding a special yoga event for children.
RISE managing director R.Ravikumar and executive director R.Nympha Timothy had emphasized on their institution’s commitment to build an inclusive society where every child is empowered to learn, participate and thrive.
Yoga coaches Ms.J.Jansi Rani and Mr.M.Ranjith along with RISE parent Mr.S.Muthiah had participated in the yoga event held for children and breathing exercises were performed to improve physical fitness, emotional regulation and overall well-being, the press release added.
