Young CM Vijay in 2026 reminds me of our young PM Rajiv Gandhi of 80s who came with his fresh ideas for India…Please give him some time (Part-1)

MADURAI: The emergence and resurgence of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) party in the latest 2026 assembly elections in Tamil Nadu as a single largest party with 108 seats that can claim to form the new government in Dravidian-dominated soil of last six decades reminds me of the days when young Rajiv Gandhi became Prime Minister of India in 1984 after the tragic assassination of his mother who was a powerful global leader and our country’s PM powerful woman who showed what is public life in the form of Mrs.Indira Gandhi.

Young Mr.C.Joseph Vijay became CM of Tamil Nadu with his mass following, charisma, popularity and thanks to the people’s massive surging support to his new party TVK whereas late Rajiv Gandhi who is being gratefully remembered by the nation today on May 21st 2026 on his death anniversary became a sudden PM due to the demise of Mrs.Indira Gandhi

Rajiv Gandhi became PM in 1984 and he showed a very clear vision of what he wanted to do for India in the global arena, and it is time to tell the present generation in India that it was Rajiv Gandhi who took the lead role to bring computers to India and from there the transformation of India as a software hot spot in the world began.

The first speech delivered by young PM Mr.Rajiv Gandhi in the United Nations conference immediately after he became Prime Minister of India is still fresh in my memory. But, unfortunately, Rajiv Gandhi had to face lot of political challenges due to corruption scandal and what was more tragic was the barbaric blast in which he got killed in a public meeting in Tamil Nadu on 21st May 1991.

As a school student in 80s in Andhra Pradesh, I Shastry V Mallady heard about what our then young Rajiv Gandhi said and took special steps as a clean hand and India followed what he said because it was Rajiv Gandhi who took bold steps for Panchayat power for villages through a Constitution amendment which was debated for years in those days.

Like that Tamil Nadu people had now elected a new young Chief Minister in 2026 assembly elections by defeating many Dravidian stalwarts like Chief Minister M.K.Stalin also from his own Kolathur assembly constituency in Chennai.

Did anyone expect that Stalin will lose as MLA in his constituency for which he did several development projects? So, it is time to respect the people’s mandate and young generation of voters.

Political parties like DMK and AIADMK should not comment about youth voting pattern because it is a voter’s right, and they chose Joseph Vijay as their new Chief Minister.

When India can have a young admired Prime Minister like Rajiv Gandhi, why not a young CM Like C.Joseph Vijay now as Tamil Nadu in 2026? Should we have only aged CMs….should we have only aged family ruled MLAs?

The people of Tamil Nadu gave a chance to Vijay and his TVK. It is time to give him some time for showing his TVK government’s ability. Because, NO BODY GAVE A PATTA TO DMK AND AIADMK IN TAMIL NADU politics to rule one after the other. The time is now NEW GEN and please let us not humiliate the voters who voted for young Vijay and thrown out Mr.M.K.Stalin and Mr.EPS.

It is time to think in Tamil Nadu instead of taking on the new CM Mr.Vijay and his young Ministers team right from day one from the first day on May 4th 2026 when the assembly results were declared telling the Tamil Nadu people’s mandate to TVK with a strong whistle.
