MADURAI: The rural local bodies election results in Tamil Nadu which were declared on 2nd January 2020 has registered an interesting victory.
In Madurai district, a 79-year-old woman Veerammal Alagappan had won the pamchayat president election from Arittapatti in Melur Union near here. She secured 195 votes more than the next immediate candidate. There were 10 candidates in the fray for this post.
Veerammal already contested two times in election and now in her third attempt she had won and caught everyone’s attention. After she was declared as winner, the old woman told reporters that she wants to do some good work for people in her locality.
