
MADURAI: The historic Gandhi Memorial Museum in Madurai and Rajapalayam Raju’s College at Rajapalayam have conducted a special event at Rajapalayam today-March 12th 2026- which is a very significant day in India’s history as Mahatma Gandhi started the salt satyagraha which is called as ‘Dandi March’ on this day in our country’s freedom struggle history.
Through a State-level seminar on ‘From Salt to Freedom: The Legacy of Gandhi’s Dandi March’ which was organised in the college campus on March 12th and March 13th 2026, the importance of Gandhian principles in the present era was highlighted to college students by explaining the significance of non-violence and satyagraha.
The Postgraduate and Research Centre of Department of History of Rajapalayam Raju’s College and Gandhi Memorial Museum in Madurai have entered into a Memorandum of Uunderstanding (MoU) today to collaborate on various academic activities, according to a press release here on March 12th 2026 and pursuing of certificate and diploma courses in Gandhian Thought was also suggested to the college students today.
K.R.Nandha Rao, secretary, Gandhi Memorial Museum-Madurai, Dr.C.Ramakrishnan, Principal, Rajapalayam Raju’s College at Rajapalayam, Mr.R.Natarajan, educational officer, Gandhi Memorial Museum-Madurai and Dr.R.Devadoss, Principal, Institute of Gandhian Studies and Research at Gandhi Memorial Museum in Madurai, were among those who had addressed the students and spoke about Gandhiji’s influence for present generation.
Dr.D.Ebi James, seminar convener, had welcomed the gathering while Dr.R.Jaganath, co-patron of the seminar, had explained about the seminar theme while Dr.B.Kandasamy, seminar organizing secretary, had proposed a vote of thanks.
