MADURAI: The Government of India is fully committed to railway development in Tamil Nadu and fast execution of railway projects with budget allocation, a press release from the railways has said today-February 9th 2026.
“Budget allocation for railway development in Tamil Nadu has increased 8.5 times since 2014 to Rs.7,611 crores in 2026-27. However, only 24 per cent of required land for ongoing projects has been handed over so far, despite Rs.1,465 crores already paid to the State for land acquisition. The delay in handing over land is leading to delays in key projects,” the railways has said in a press statement with full details of various railway projects in Tamil Nadu for which land acqusition funds were released, the new railway projects sanctioned for Tamil Nadu and the Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) prepared for new projects in Tamil Nadu.
