MADURAI: Employees and pensioners of Madurai Kamaraj University (MKU) here can heave a sigh of relief as the varsity Registrar in-charge Prof. M.Ramakrishnan himself had given a good news today that all steps have been taken to disburse salary and pension on the last day of the month itself and the university administration is working with that aim.

Speaking at a special event organized by MKU Pensioners Association in Madurai on December 21st 2025 to commemorate Pensioners Day, he said that the State Government and MKU Syndicate members along with the committee headed by IAS officer Mrs.E.Sundaravalli who is the Commissioner of Higher Education of Government of Tamil Nadu are fully focused on MKU issues to mitigate the university from financial hardships.

“You all worked with commitment for our university for many decades. Our Conveners’ committee headed by madam Sundaravalli is monitoring our university’s needs fully. Things are improving for getting salary and pension funds needed to be paid every month on time. We are receiving increased block grant from the government starting from Rs.8 crores to Rs.60 crores which we got now to meet our univeristy’s salary and pension needs. We have now asked for Rs.108 crores as block grant for coming year and our aim is to disburse salary and pension on the last day of every month. Tomorrow I am going to Chennai to meet the higher officials and I hope that everything will be smooth for this coming new year day 2026 also because we want to ensure that salaries and pension are given to our university staff in time for the new year,” the MKU Registrar in-charge has said while addressing the pensioners of MKU here today.

Dr.A.Srinivasan, president, MKU Pensioners Association, Dr.C.Chandran, Chairman of Aurobindo Mira Group of schools in Madurai, Mr.T.P.Giridharan, association secretary and MKU Syndicate member Prof.S.Deenadayalan were among those who spoke at the MKU Pensioners Association event held at Aurobindo Mira Higher Secondary School in Madurai today.
