Southern Railway’s new Additional General Manager assumes charge with vast experience in metros and tunnels

MADURAI: Mr.Vipin Kumar of 1998 batch Indian Railway Service of Engineers (IRSE) has assumed charge as new Additional General Manager of Southern Railway in Chennai today-October 13th 2025.

Prior to this position, he held the post of Chief Administrative Officer/Construction of North Central Railway. He also served as Senior Deputy General Manager in Eastern Railway and Principal Chief Engineer of Rail Wheel Factory in Bengaluru.

“Mr.Vipin Kumar joined IRSE in 1988. He had held various technical and mangerial assignments across railway zones in India. He led largescale infra projects in the railways, metros, highways and tunnels therby gaining vast experience in multi-disciplinary domains of railways,” a railway press release received here today has informed.

The new AGM of Southern Railway had graduated from Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology at Allahabad, and he did his postgraduation in computer science from Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi. Mr.Vipin Kumar has succeeded Mr.Kaushal Kishore who superannuated in August 2025, the press release said.
