National SC Commission summons TN Chief Secy

MADURAI: The National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC), a Constitutional body set up under Article 338 of the Constitution of India, has issued summons to Tamil Nadu Chief Secretary to appear before it for a hearing related to ‘Panchami’ land issue.

On behalf of NCSC Vice-Chairman Mr.L.Murugan, an urgent communication dated 4th November 2019 was sent to the Chief Secretary of Government of Tamil Nadu to appear in person on November 19th 2019 in his chamber in New Delhi (NCSC Headquarters) for the hearing with all relevant documents and files pertaining to complaints that ‘Panchami’ land meant for people belonging to SC category is being occupied by DMK mouthpiece Tamil daily ‘Murasoli’ in Chennai.

BJP LEADER’S INITIATIVE: 

The issue of ‘Panchami’ land grabbing in the State was taken up by Tamil Nadu BJP State Secretary, Madurai Zone In-charge and party spokesperson Prof.Dr.R.Srinivasan and he submitted a petition / representation to NCSC Vice-Chairman Mr.L.Murugan on October 22nd 2019.

“This is an important issue for the welfare of SC communities….The Chief Secretary has been asked to appear with Action Taken Report and our only objective is to take care of the interests of people belonging to Scheduled Castes,” BJP leader Prof.Dr.R.Srinivasan told ‘Lotus Times’ news website here today.
