MADURAI: Tamil Nadu Minister for Higher Education Mr.Govi.Chezhiaan has given an assurance that the Madurai Kamaraj University (MKU) teaching faculty members who are waiting for promotions will get a ‘good news’ soon from the State government.

“Our delegation from Madurai Kamaraj University Faculty Association (MUFA) had met the Higher Education Minister at Circuit House in Madurai yesterday (May 28th 2025) and told him about our grievance of how more than 100 faculty members have been waiting for promotions in CAS for past many years despite their eligibility and the CAS process was already held in 2024. We requested the Higher Education Minister to solve our disappointment over the inordinate delay in issuing promotion orders for MKU faculty members,” Dr.C.Muniyandi, general secretary, MUFA, told ‘Lotus Times’ media here today.

Faculty members of MKU are optimistic that the MUFA team’s meeting with the Minister will yield positive results soon because the “Minister himself had acknowledged that this MKU promotions matter was discussed last week in a meeting and the hopes are high on the present faculty members who took the initiative for this important cause”.

Dr.Muniyandi has said today that it is time for urgent action to implement CAS promotions because teaching staff in the varsity are getting retired or moving to other places.

“From the year 2022, we have been waiting for CAS promotions in MKU. If you take the data, 88 faculty will get eligible for professor cadre….and many of our university faculty are waiting for promotion approval letters from associate professor to professor and assistant professor to associate professor…..We will meet the Higher Education Minister once again,” Dr.Muniyandi, MUFA general secretary, has said in Madurai today- May 29th 2025.
