Kalaignar Centenary Library in Madurai signs MoU with Lady Doak College to benefit students for books, exams, skills training, motivation and book fairs

MADURAI: The Kalaignar Centenary Library in Madurai has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the prestigious Lady Doak College here to promote students’ skills and their engagement through literary, technology and community focused initiatives.

This MoU was signed in Madurai on May 27th 2025 and senior representatives from both the institutions were present and they include Dr.V.Dinesh Kumar, Chief Librarian and Information Officer of Kalaignar Centenary Library-Madurai and Dr.Beulah Jeyashree, Principal and Secretary, Lady Doak College, according to a press release here today.

As part of this agreement, the students will benefit from experiential training programmes, motivational camps for competitive exams and opportunities to participate in international book fairs. The library will support LDC activities by offering multi-purpose halls at concessional rates, and both the institutions will work together on technology-led solutions and collaborative library events including the Youth Literary Festival, the press release added.

HOW THE STUDENTS WILL BENEFIT?:

Students can avail library borrowing privileges for up to 60 days without penalty by using their college ID card and library membership card.

“This partnership also envisions promotion of reading habits through faculty-led sessions…..and English language training, story-telling for children and the conversion of reading materials into audio formats for the visually impaired,” the press release received from Madurai district collectorate and Lady Doak College here today informed.

Mr.V.Santhanakrishnan, Deputy Chief Librarian and Information Officer, Mrs.K.Sivakamasundari, assistant librarian and information officer from the Kalaignar Centenary Library in Madurai were among those present along with Lady Doak College faculty Dr.Jessie Ranjitha Jebaselvi and Dr.Nissi Karunya from the English department, the press release said and added that this collaboration marks a promising beginning for Lady Doak College with Kalaignar Centenary Library in Madurai.
