MADURAI: The speeches being made of late by the present Vice-President of India Mr.Jagdeep Dhankar in public forums about the country’s judiciary are nothing but irresponsible utterances by a Constitutional functionary to erode the people’s confidence in democracy, the Constitution of India and on the Supreme Court of India, Mr.P.B.Prince Gajendra Babu, general secretary, State Platform for Common School System-Tamil Nadu (SPCSS-TN), has alleged today.
“The Vice President of India is right now not only ridiculing the Chief Justice of India but also tarnishing the image of our Supreme Court. He (Mr.Jagdeep Dhankar) is consistently speaking in the tone and tenor to undermine the judiciary. Political parties and the MPs should take a serious view on the Vice-President’s speeches and take corrective measures. If the Vice-President of India fails to understand the Constitution of India, then the MPs of our Parliament should initiate appropriate proceedings as per law to remove Mr.Jagdeep Dhankar from the office of the Vice-President of India,” Mr.P.B.Prince Gajendra Babu has appealed in a press statement issued from Chennai today- May 20th 2025. His statement assumes significance in the backdrop of Supreme Court’s judgement in Tamil Nadu Government case against the Governor who delayed the bills sent by Assembly.
“DON’T UNDERMINE JUDICIARY”:
He questioned why the present Vice-President of India Mr.Jagdeep Dhankar is silent on select issues and active in some matters. “Instead of counselling the Executive, the Vice President of India is using every opportunity to target the judiciary and undermine its role. He had crossed all limits in ridiculing the CJI… When the President of India is alive and active, there is no role for the Vice President in this executive branch of India government….the ridiculing of judiciary is not tolerable. The freedom of expression in our Indian Constitution is under threat now. Let us stand united to defend the Constitution of India which ensures that India is a socialist secular and democratic Republic. If the Vice President wants his photos in offices, he can convey it to the Government of India and then a decision may be taken,” Mr.P.B.Prince Gajendra Babu has said in his press statement from Chennai today- May 20th 2025.
