MADURAI: Thousands of devotees witnessed the grand entry of Lord Kallazhagar into the Vaigai river in Madurai today morning- on May 5th 2023, which is an important event in the ongoing famous Chithirai festival.
The procession of Lord Kallazhagar started from Tallakulam Karuppannasamykoil and proceeded towards Vaigai River in Madurai city. Amidst chanting by devotees, at 5.45 am today morning, Lord Kallazhagar entered the Vaigai river. Later, he proceeded towards Ramarayar mandapam.
The ‘mandapapadi’ at Alwarpuram in the Vaigai river where the entry took place was decorated with two tonnes of flowers. More than 5,000 police personnel were deployed for regulating the huge congregation of devotees who came towards the river to witness the event held closer to the A.V.Bridge in Goripalayam in the city.
