
MADURAI: Tamil Nadu Higher Education Minister Dr.K.Ponmudi had today formally launched the new undergraduate courses started by Madurai Kamaraj University (MKU) and issued admission cards to the students. He released the prospectus of these new UG courses at a function held in the university campus here on 9th September 2022, in the presence of MKU Vice-Chancellor Prof.J.Kumar who welcomed the gathering. The 5 new UG courses started in MKU from this academic year are B.Sc Mathematics, B.Sc Psychology, BA Tamil, BA English and B.Com.
Higher Education Minister Dr.KPonmudi in his speech insisted on the importance of women education, the need of higher education and skill based education. He also emphasized about the benefits of education schemes of Tamil Nadu State government and especially the ‘Naan Mudhalvan’, Pudhumai Pen etc because the State government is focusing on empowering rural girls and rural women through education. Dr.K.Ponmudi also spoke about the proposed New State Education Policy.
He released a book written by university professor Dr.K.A.Babu. And, he also planted a tree sapling in MKU campus here today and subsequently 500 saplings were planted. Students of Arul Anandar College-Karumathur and Madurai Gandhi N.M.R.Subburaman College had performed cultural programmes at the new courses launch function today. Dr.M.Sivakumar, MKU Registrar, proposed a vote of thanks.
