MADURAI: Mr.S.Rethinavelu, president of Agrofood Chamber of Commerce and Industry, has been chosen as one of the members in the high-level committee constituted by the Tamil Nadu State government to offer recommendations in agriculture produce and marketing issues. He has been nominated to this special high level committee as chamber of commerce representative.
According to a press release received from Agrofood Chamber secretary Mr.J.Rajmohan here on 26th April 2022, the Tamil Nadu government has constituted a high level committee to consider and offer recommendations for the changes and amendments to be made in the Tamil Nadu Agricultural Produce Marketing Regulations Act and Rules in accordance with present market conditions.
The terms of reference includes setting up of e-commerce platform enabling the farmers to get good price for their products, to bring all private markets, private sub-markets, direct sales under the purview of the Act. It also covers assessment of market fees and service charges, abolishing several licensing procedures and introduce online issue of single consolidated licensing etc, the press release added.
The high-level committee with 11 members include senior government officials from concerned department, MLAs and one representative for chamber of commerce, farmers, farmer producer organisations and higher officials from finance and law.
