
MADURAI: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has today set the tone for its soon-to-start voter outreach electioneering campaign activity in Madurai South assembly constituency by first offering prayers in temples for the party’s victory in the coming assembly elections.
On March 29th 2026 evening, BJP State general secretary Prof.Raama Sreenivasan went to the famous Mariamman Temple at Teppakulam in the city along with party’s Madurai district office-bearers and cadres to seek divine blessings.
“Our party is yet to announce the candidates’ list for constituencies where the BJP is contesting. However, we wanted to go to temples and get the blessings of God. So, we started temples darshan today evening to pray for the victory of our party and lotus symbol in the assembly elections. We are delighted that Madurai South constituency has been allotted to BJP and we thank our Prime Minister Mr.Narendra Modi and our entire leadership,” the BJP leader told ‘Lotus Times’ media after coming out of Mariamman Temple at Teppakulam here today evening.
Prof.Raama Sreenivasan had stressed that the BJP is working with the goal ‘Therku engal Ilakku’ (south is our target) and a full-fledged intensive election campaign will be started immediately after the candidate name is announced for Madurai South constituency.
He said that the party cadres are offering prayers in temples in all the 236 polling booths in Madurai South constituency because good things must be started with prayers and divine blessings.
