MADURAI: The wife of a Kargil war veteran has sought the intervention of President of India Ms.Droupadi Murmu to get her son’s original marks certificates from the Madurai Kamaraj University (MKU) here which is withholding them for last nine months.
Explaining the plight and agony of the distressed family which is now staying in Coimbatore, Ms.Janaki (wife of ex-army man and Kargil war veteran A.Saravanan) had sent a detailed representation to Rashtrapati Bhavan and to the President of India’s official e-mail on March 20th 2026 pleading for ‘Presidential intervention’ to save the family of Kargil war veteran.
“I am seeking the help of President of India to get all original certificates of my son S.Surya who studied in CPA College at Bodinayakanur in Theni district and successfully completed his B.A. in English, but is waiting to get original certificates and original mark sheets of 5th and 6th semesters for the last nine months. The delay in giving original marks sheets has ruined the further studies of my son,” the affected student’s mother has said in her grievance letter to President of India.
The Kargil war veteran’s family had accused that the reason for delay in giving the original certificates and marks statements to the student was because S.Surya had boldly filed formal complaints about certain alleged malpractices taking place at CPA College after he faced a situation when he went to the college campus April and May 2025 to collect his original certificates.
DEMAND FOR BRIBE?:
“There was a demand for bribe from some persons in the college. We took this matter to the notice of Madurai Kamaraj University in Madurai and to the college management, and also to the UGC. Students who dare to protest or raise legitimate grievances will have their lives deliberately sabotaged. A fabricated case was recorded against my son S.Surya in July 2025 accusing him that he had used abusive language against the CPA College Principal. Right now, my son’s academic degree certificates are still in the custody of MKU and CPA College only,” the wife of Kargil war veteran has said in her representation to the President of India about the issue and giving full details of the case.
The affected family has appealed for Presidential intervention to get the semester marks-sheets (original) without further delay and also pleaded for appropriate disciplinary action against those who are responsible for the agony being faced due to the delay by MKU, CPA College and the University Grants Commission which did not respond in the last seven months despite several appeals and sending all documents to the UGC for immediate action.
“What else can I do to get justice for my son….My son is a victim of a powerful lobby that is working in MKU and in the college. Because his original marks statements are not given still even as on date, my son lost one academic year already and we are still waiting with a great hope that the President of India will intervene and come to our rescue,” the Kargil war veteran Mr.A.Saravanan has said while speaking to ‘Lotus Times’ over phone from Coimbatore today afternoon-March 21st 2026.
