
MADURAI: The Union Government led by Prime Minister Mr.Narendra Modi has today claimed that India’s consumer economy had witnessed highest Navaratri sales this year when compared to the dales figures in over last one decade and that was possible because of the latest recently announced NextGen GST reforms which had reduced the tax rates for various products.
“Families had got a chance to upgrade their vehicles, purchase home appliances and spend for lifestyle goods. There is a record breaking consumption in India in this Navaratri festival sales period thanks to the GST boost,” according to a press release from Government of India on October 3rd 2025.
In automobile sector, car maker Maruti Suzuki’s Navratri sales grew by 100 per cent giving a double sales this year, and Maruti Suzuki reported 1.5 lakh bookings and it expects to reach two lakh bookings soon. In last Navaratri, the retail sales of Maruti was 85,000 vehicles, according to the press release which cited reports from various business media and economy news websites.
Stating that Maruti Suzuki had delivered 1.65 lakh vehicles in the first eight days of Navratri 2025 festival, the Modi government press release has informed that Maruti had delivered a record number of 30,000 cars on the first day of Navratri and it is the best single day performance in 35 years.
The latest post-GST rate cuts sales data revealed today also said that Mahindra & Mahindra had seen a 60 per cent jump in retail sales this year while Hyundai has seen a huge surge in demand for its SUVs. Tata Motors retailed more than 50,000 vehicles during this Navratri festival period 2025 and Bajaj Auto also reported strong sales along with Hero Motocorp, the press release has claimed today.
It was also informed that consumer electronics sector had a booming sales figure this Navaratri compared to last year and it had given the sales figures of retail chain Vijay Sales, Reliance Retail, Haier and LG Electronics.
