MADURAI: Academic fraternity should be cautious about the quality of research publications they choose and they should not fall prey to fake journals or cloned journals, Dr.S.Murugesan, Professor and Head, Department of Inorganic Chemistry and Director in-charge (Research and Development), Madurai Kamaraj University, had cautioned today.
“There are lot of benefits if your research papers get published because quality research publications are the backbone of higher education institutions. But at the same time, our academicians should not be a prey to fake or cloned journals,” he stressed while addressing the participants at a workshop on research ethics organized by the Research and Development Cell of Fatima College in Madurai today-August 9th 2025.
More than 250 faculty members of Fatima College had attended the workshop on “Research Ethics and Bibliometrics’ where resource persons had given deeper insights into measuring impact in research publications and motivated the teaching staff to involve themselves in research and go beyond just teaching.
Dr.S.Murugesan from MKU had addressed the Fatima College faculty on the topic ‘Publication Metrics: A comprehensive guide to impactful research’ while Dr.F.R.Alexander Pravin Durai, Vice-Principal (Academic), St.Joseph’s College-Tiruchi, spoke on essentials of research ethics in Artificial Intelligence (AI) era and he conveyed his points by comparing natural intelligence with artificial intelligence and the risks of using AI in research.
Dr.Sr.M.Fatima Mary, Principal of Fatima College, who had presided over the workshop had exhorted the young faculty to focus on design and delivery of original cum healthy research. Dr.N.Malathy, Associate Professor and Research Dean, Research Centre of Zoology, Fatima College, spoke on the important purpose of holding a workshop on research ethics.
