
MADURAI: The plight of guest lecturers working in government arts and science colleges in Tamil Nadu and the grievances of temporary guest lecturers who are having both qualification and experience were taken to the attention of Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Mr.L.Murugan during his visit to Tiruvannamalai on June 21st 2025.
A representation was submitted to him to resolve the grievances of guest lecturers in the State who are being given a very meagre salary by the Tamil Nadu State government despite High Court judgments ordering Rs.50,000 as salary per month to those working in government arts and science colleges in the State.
Mr.V.Thangaraj, State president, Tamil Nadu All Government College UGC Qualified Guest Lecturers Association, had met the Union Minister Mr.L.Murugan at Tiruvannamalai and appealed to him to take steps for implementing the High Court judgments by the State government.
“Many guest lecturers who are working in government colleges are having 10 to 15 years of experience. but they are still temporary even though there are court orders and UGC qualification. Temporary teachers are facing hardships in schools and colleges in Tamil Nadu. The Higher Education Department is not implementing the court directions. Totally there are 7,360 guest lecturers who are working in 171 government arts and science and education colleges in Tamil Nadu, and they are being paid very low salary by the colleges,” Mr.V.Thangaraj has said in his representation to the Union Minister who visited Tiruvannamalai to attend a convocation event.
