Chest Pain Units can handle heart emergencies: Indian-origin cardiac expert shows a model for Liberia and West Africa to establish CPUs with a ‘good heart’

MADURAI: A heart care top cardiologist of Indian origin Dr.Aravind Kumar Radhakrishnan had presented a practical treatment model strategic proposals to handle heart emergencies for the people living in Republic of Liberia in West Africa.

His proposal for heart care is to establish Chest Pain Units (CPUs) in all the 15 counties of Liberia because they can deliver timely diagnosis and quick treatment for acute cardiac conditions which is important for critical emergency cardiac care.

Dr.Aravind Kumar Radhakrishnan had presented his cardiovascular care initiative project model for West Africa to Ms.Moijama L.Dunor, Deputy Consular General and Charge d Affaires of the Republic of Liberia in New York on June 9th 2025.

He is an Indian origin physician hailing from Tamil Nadu and is now an Associate at the Mittal Institute in world renowned Harvard University from where he is spearheading emergency cardiac care programs in various parts of West Africa.

“A core innovation in his proposal for West Africa is creation of a mobile cath lab units to be housed in a truck, to operate and serve the people in Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea for interventional cardiology services directly to the people. This project proposal which was given to the Republic of Liberia in the meeting with that country’s consular deputy general in New York will be a health care diplomacy with humanitarian approach to handle cardiovascular emergencies in West Africa,” according to a press release about Dr.Aravind Radhakrishnan’s proposal to establish more number of Chest Pain Units in Liberia and in West African countries.
