MADURAI: The announcement of a direct flight by IndiGo Airlines from Madurai to Abu Dhabi from June 13th 2025 was welcomed by Tamil Nadu Chamber of Commerce and Industry here today by stating that global travel will become easier for the people of southern districts in the State.
“The launch of Madurai to Abu Dhabi direct flight by IndiGo for three days a week starting from June 13th 2025 is being warmly welcomed by our chamber which has been emphasizing the need for international flight services from Madurai airport. This benefits trade and commerce fraternity in southern districts of Tamil Nadu. The direct flight achievement became possible through the joint efforts of Tamil Nadu Chamber of Commerce and Industry along with other trade bodies particularly the CII and FICCI,” Dr.N.Jegatheesan, TN Chamber president, has said in a press statement issued from Madurai today evening- May 14th 2025.
He pointed out that Madurai airport began 24 X 7 operations last year and a comprehensive meeting was organized by the TN Chamber on October 4th 2025 with representatives from various private airlines to discuss the feasibility for increasing international flight services from Madurai.
