MADURAI: The important event of Madurai’s famous Chithirai festival took place early today morning as Lord Kallazhagar made entry into the Vaigai River here amidst a huge congregation of devotees chanting ‘Govinda…Govinda’ and splashing waters to mark this holy occasion on May 12th 2025.
Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Minister Mr.P.K.Sekar Babu, Commercial Taxes and Registration Minister Mr.P.Moorthy, Madurai District Collector M.S.Sangeetha, Corporation Mayor Ms.Indrani Ponvasanth, Madurai Corporation Commissioner Ms.Chithra Vijayan, Madurai Lok Sabha MP Mr.Su.Venkatesan, Deputy Mayor Mr.Nagarajan, MLAs and several top officials from various departments of government were among those were present today at Goripalayam in the city-May 12th 2025, along with a massive congregation of devotees.
