MADURAI: Teaching and non-teaching staff of the prestigious American College in Madurai are in panic mode today- May 2nd 2025- as they have not received their April month salary.

“It is something unusual for us because we always get our salary on the last day of the month. The current developments in our college campus following the court cases and investigation are very disturbing. Aided staff and Self-Financing staff did not get salary till now, and it is an alert that something is going wrong and we are worried about the financial position,” a few faculty members told ‘Lotus Times’ media in Madurai at 9 pm today expressing their worries.

The American College staff are planning to meet senior officials in the Higher Education Department immediately to tell their point that any court case or investigation against someone in the college management should not affect their monthly salary disbursal.

They were referring to the enquiry going on against the present Principal Dr.M.Davamani Christober on charges and allegations of disproportionate assets.

“The teaching and non-teaching staff are suffering now because delay in salary will hit us a lot since we have to pay monthly EMIs to banks etc. We urge the Commissioner of High Education Mrs.E.Sundaravalli to take quick steps and direct the collegiate education authorities to release the salary fund for aided staff and also ask the college management to pay salary to the SF staff,” a senior faculty member has appealed today evening.
