MADURAI: The Governor’s office has today issued a press statement from Raj Bhavan in Chennai stating that there is no power struggle between Raj Bhavan and Tamil Nadu State government in the issue of holding Vice-Chancellors conference.
“There are some misleading media reports regarding the forthcoming annual conference of leaders of higher educational institutions including Central, State and private universities in our State, and some media reports have appeared in recent days as if it is a power struggle between Raj Bhavan and the State government. These media reports are entirely erroneous and mischievous,” the press release from Tamil Nadu Raj Bhavan has said today-April 23rd 2025.
GIVING A POLITICAL TWIST:
The TN Governor’s office press release has said its is unfortunate that some ill informed media reports have given the well intentioned academic exercise a political twist, wrongly linked it with the recent court judgement and tried to project as if it is a power struggle between the Raj Bhavan and the State government.
“These sort of reports in a section of media are scandalous ans far from truth. Annual conference of university VCs are being organized in April every year since 2022 by the Governor of Tamil Nadu. Eminent leaders of academia and industries from Tamil Nadu and across the country participate to share their ideas and experiences with leaders of higher educational institutions in our State. Earlier, our State universities never interacted with each other. This year too, the preparations for VCs conference began in January itself,” the Raj Bhavan has said in a press release on April 23rd 2025 about the two-day conference being conducted at Udhagamandalam on April 25th and 26th 2025.
