“There is a huge young population in India. Our country is known for large number of youth in the age of 20s and 30s and they are our demographic advantage in the years to come. As a economics student always and as a teacher of economics, I want the students to know what is there in the Union Budget every year. Because, budget literacy is important to know what is announced in the budget. You should know the details as a student, as a producer, as a consumer and as general public. All details are in public domain and full budget is there is government websites,” Dr.C.Muthuraja, who is a member of Indian Economic Association-New Delhi, has said while addressing the MISS students in Madurai today in his nearly two hours session, on August 7th 2024.

Dr.Muthuraja had an interaction session with the college students of Madurai Institute of Social Sciences where he highlighted about sustainable development goals, direct and indirect taxes, contribution and role of women and the nine budget priorities as announced in the recent Union Budget 2024-25 which was presented by Union Finance Minister Ms.Nirmala Sitharaman.

“I described the union budget as ABM budget- Andhra, Bihar and Modi budget because it had political priorities due to the needs of those two States etc. The budget had spelt out nine priorities starting from agriculture to skills, manufacturing and services to urban development, employment scope, infra, R&D, energy sector etc. Students should have budget literacy so that they will know what is happening in each sector and sphere,” Dr.C.Muthuraja has said in Madurai today.
