
MADURAI: The world famous Sri Meenakshi Sundareswarar Temple in Madurai is getting ready for ‘Kumbhabishekam’ as the consecration preparatory works for arrangements began by performing the ‘Balalayam Puja’ ritual in the temple premises here today morning- on September 4th 2023.
Temple priests had performed the ‘Balalayam’ puja in the presence of Commercial Taxes and Registration Minister Mr.P.Moorthy, Madurai District Collector M.S.Sangeetha, Corporation Mayor Ms.Indrani Ponvasanth, MLAs and officials from various departments and temple.
The performing of ‘Balalayam’ puja is considered as the first preliminary step for conducting of Kumbhabhishekam in Hindu temples. Already the HR&CE Department of Government of Tamil Nadu is currently monitoring the various renovation works underway in Meenakshi Temple in Madurai and the dates for ‘Kumbhabishekam’ will be announced after the works get completed.

The performing of ‘Balalayam’ marks the commencing of preparatory arrangements works for consecration ceremony.
