MADURAI: The Vice-Chancellor of Annamalai University in Chidambaram Prof.RM.Kathiresan has today exhorted the fresh graduates and students to go in search of opportunities because opportunities will not come searching for students’ doorsteps.
“The degree you are getting today is like a torchlight. It shows light for some distance, from there keep going and going. The first step only counts and distance does not matter. Our ancient Tamil literature had mentioned several centuries back about science and technology, business management etc. Education is not just about imparting skills alone to students. It is about character, elevating to a level of growth, development and success through ethical means,” Prof.RM.Kathiresan, Annamalai University Vice-Chancellor, said while speaking as chief guest at the 38th graduation day of Thiagarajar College in Madurai today- on September 3rd 2023.
The Annamalai University vice-chancellor had quoted verses from several ancient Tamil texts and literature that gender parity, women’s role, ethics and development must go together and that “students and graduates must elevate themselves to a higher level of thinking because education is not just about imparting of skills. There is divinity, spirituality and right thinking etc that must be inculcated by students. The great role and contributions of Annamalai Chettiar, Alagappa Chettiar and Karumuttu Thiagaraja Chettiar is remarkable in Tamil Nadu in the field of education. Out next mission and vision must be to improve the gender parity index, and more girls/women should come to higher education mainstream and in Tamil Nadu,” the Annamalai University Vice-Chancellor Prof.RM.Kathiresan has said in his Graduation Day address at Thiagarajar College in Teppakulam in Madurai on September 3rd 2023.
K.Hari Thiagarajan, Secretary of Thiagarajar College, presided over the graduation day ceremony and delivered the welcome address. Dr.D.Pandiaraja, Principal, Thiagarajar College and Deans were among those present along with HoDs, faculty and college staff from teaching and non-teaching departments besides a large number of parents of graduating students of Thiagarajar College in Madurai on September 3rd 2023.
