MADURAI: A strong campaign is building up from Madurai to oppose the Central government’s decision to introduce private trains and the attempts of privatization of railway stations by holding public awareness drive and protests by the People First Movement.
On 11th October 2020 (Sunday), a protest cum human chain was held before Madurai Railway Junction here urging the Centre and Narendra Modi’s government to stop proceeding with their decision of railways privatization / and withdraw the move to launch private trains. A strong voice was resonated through this People First Movement’s protest here today.
Madurai Lok Sabha constituency MP Mr.S.Venkatesan, Prof.P.Rajamaickam, National Task Force Member of People First Movement and several others participated in this protest cum human chain held in Madurai today. “Our protest is against privatization of Indian Railway and we strongly oppose introducing private trains. Selling of railway stations to private parties should be stopped by the Central government.
Railways and our trains should not go to the private sector and private – corporate sector. We are fighting to protect and continue the Indian Railways as a public sector organization. We want people’s support in our campaign,” Prof.P.Rajamanickam said here today- on 11th October 2020- after the protest was over.
