
MADURAI: Public health authorities and Madurai Corporation’s special teams are putting special focus on 2,109 streets in Madurai city from where fever cases have been detected.
Tamil Nadu Health and Family Welfare Secretary Dr.J.Radhakrishnan told reporters in Madurai on 6th July 2020 that data of street-wise fever cases was examined following which 2,109 streets are now given top attention as a part of Corona control and prevention strategy here.
He informed that 47 ‘fever streets’ in particular are totally prohibited and barricaded by the authorities while restricting public movement there. Streets having five persons with fever, streets having four persons with fever and streets with three persons with fever have been identified in Madurai city through door-to-door fever survey.
Dr.J.Radhakrishnan has appealed to the public to wear face mask, follow hand wash and sanitizer besides social distancing in order to prevent the spread of coronavirus. Today, he inspected MGR Street in Yagappa Nagar here where a mobile medical camp was held for local residents there.

The Health Secretary also urged the Madurai Corporation authorities to appoint more sanitary and health workers for Corona prevention work. He visited the Corporation headquarters building ‘Arignar Anna Maligai’ in Madurai today and enquired about the functioning of telemedicine -counselling centre started recently to provide medical advice for those in home isolation home quarantine.
