MADURAI: The staff working in the Commercial Department of Southern Railway Madurai Division had provided groceries to porters and platform vendors at Madurai railway station today- 25th April 2020. Grocery kits were also distributed at Rameswaram, Paramakudi, Manamadurai, Vanchi Maniyachi, Kovilpatti, Tirunelveli, Dindigul and Tuticorin railway stations.
The grocery kits for railway porters and vendors were distributed in the presence of Mr.T.M.Gopi, district thasildhar, Madurai.
Commercial Department employees of Madurai Division have voluntarily come forward to help porters and platform vendors since they are affected by corona lockdown. Mr.V.Prasanna, senior DCM and Mr.M.Bharath Kumar, DCM, has suggested to the staff to provide groceries to them.
Also, IRCTC Madurai had distributed 1,200 packets of free curd rice to the destitute, a press release from Southern Railway Madurai Division Public Relations Officer, had informed here today.
Mr.V.R.Lenin, Divisional Railway Manager, Madurai Division, had complimented the Commercial Department staff and officials for their gesture, the press release added.
