128-yr-old Madurai Railway School bags best school award in 66th Railway Week Celebrations 2021


MADURAI: The Railway Higher Secondary School in Madurai has been chosen for the Best railway school Award among railway schools at the zonal level of the Southern Railway. The award is given under the scheme of annual awards for railway schools for the 66th Railway Week Celebrations 2021. A list of awardees including railway school, teacher and students was released for the General Manager’s Annual Award for academic year 2019-20, at the zonal level. While the Railway Higher Secondary School in Madurai was selected for the best school award, the Best Headmistress Award also is for Madurai- Mrs.Maya Padmanaban, HM of Railway Higher Secondary School in Madurai. The awards will be given at the Railway Week 2021 function to be held on 22nd September 2021 at Chennai.


A press release received here today- on 4th September 2021- from the Madurai Division of Southern Railway had informed that railway schools are working at Perambur, Arakkonam, Jolarpettai, Villupuram, Golden Rock, Thanjavur, Erode, Podhanur, Palakkad and Madurai in the jurisdiction of Southern Railway. The Madurai Railway Mixed Higher Secondary School was chosen for the best school award for the year 2019-20. Madurai Railway School was established in the year 1894 during the British Regime and this school is now touching 128th year, it follows CBSE system. Cent per cent results were achieved in higher secondary examinations during the academic year 2018-19. School HM Mrs.Maya Padmanabhan has also got individual best teacher award.

Mr.P.Ananth, Divisional Railway Manager, Madurai Division of Southern Railway and Mr.C.Sudhagaran, Sr.DPO and Correspondent of the school, have congratulated the HM and teachers of Madurai Railway Higher Secondary School for their latest achievement. Podhanur school teacher K.Padma was chosen for best teacher award.
