Southern Railway wins silver

MADURAI: The Southern Railway has won a silver in the SKOCH Award under the category of Excellence in Response to COVID-19. As part of this participation in this award, exhaustive documentation was filed by the Southern Railway detailing various activities undertaken by Southern Railway as a response to COVID-19, a press release received here from the railway today- 17th January 2021- had informed.

These include running of ‘Shramik’ specials for migrant workers, freight services, time-tabled parcel services for transportation of essential commodities, special trains run, isolation coaches, in-house making of PPEs, hand sanitizers / masks and the valiant battle put up by the Southern Railway’s medical branch in saving precious lives.

SKOCH award was instituted in the year 2003 to honour people, institution, projects that go the extra mile to make India a better nation. SKOCH award involves rigorous process that takes into account documentation submitted, presentation made, a transparent voting process at multiple levels.

The press release had informed today that the initiative for participation in this award was taken by Mr.Vinayan, CCM/PM. He compiled all the data and presented the case for Southern Railway. Under the category of Excellence of Governance, Railway Dandora app had also entered the finals and finished got 4th place.

Recently, – Railmadad – the grievance redressal portal of Indian Railway had won GOLD in SKOCH award under the category of Excellence in Governance
