MADURAI: Following a special Court instructions, 850 seized liquor bottles were broken and destroyed by the police in Madurai today – 4th May 2020.
Police belonging to the Nagamalai Pudukottai police station in Madurai district had seized the liquor bottles during inspection-patrol at various places since Corona lockdown is being enforced. Wine shops and bars have been shutdown and sale of liquor was prohibited during the lockdown period.
Police had seized the bottles and a few persons involved in illegal selling of liquor bottles were taken into custody. Several places including Kodimangalam, Keelamathur, Thuvariman etc were covered during the police raids.
The arrested persons were in possession of hundreds of liquor bottles including IMFL and foreign brands. Police Sub-Inspector Mr.Gopinath and others have followed the court order by opening the the liquor bottles and pouring out the alcohol in open place.
The district special court here had ordered for destroying the seized liquor bottles and pour out the alcohol.
