MADURAI: The Tamil Nadu Chamber of Commerce and Industry has today appealed to the trade, industry and general public to observe strict discipline and self isolation because Corona virus is a highly contagious disease.

In a press release here on 24th March 2020, TN Chamber president Mr.N.Jegatheesan and secretary Mr. J.Selvam said that passive attitude of certain countries over the seriousness of the deadly Coronavirus pandemic had resulted in their paying heavy price in acute suffering of their people and loss of several precious lives.

“Our Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi called for people’s curfew
throughout the country last Sunday and to manifest the oneness and solidarity of 136 crore people in our country in their fight against the ominous pandemic . However our Prime Minister is distressed and saddened over the continued apathy and lack of adequate seriousness among our people on this unparalleled health catastrophe, steadily engulfing the entire world,” they pointed out.

Since India is in the third and fourth week of this fast pervading deadly virus, the lock down announced by the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Mr.Edappadi Palanisamy under Section 144 of CrPC throughout Tamil Nadu from today evening till 1st April early morning to restrict people’s movement closing all district borders in the state and to safe guard their lives is a welcome move.

In order to ensure that people are not affected by the embargo, he has allowed shops selling milk, vegetables and groceries including edible oil, fruits and meat, fuel, LPG, petrol and diesel outlets and functioning of public utility services like police, electricity and drinking water distribution.

“Health authorities and medical experts said that self isolation is good for preventing this serious health hazard. In the process, let us be happy and spend more time with our family members by confining ourselves in our homes as directed by the Central and State governments till such time the deadly virus is driven away without any trace from our country and let our country be an example to other countries,” Mr.N.Jegatheesan and Mr.J.Selvam have appealed.
